Atuen Antpitta

Grallaria atuensis

Least Concern

The Atuen Antpitta is an antpitta of humid forests in Peru. A plump, almost tailless bird with long legs, it hops across the shaded forest floor and low understorey, pausing upright to search the leaf litter for insects, worms, and other small prey. Fun fact: Despite their name and shape, antpittas are not closely related to the true pittas of the Old World.
