Bananal Antbird

Cercomacra ferdinandi

Near Threatened

The Bananal Antbird is an antbird of humid forests in Brazil. It forages in dense forest undergrowth, taking insects and other small invertebrates, and usually stays close to cover. Classified as Near Threatened, it is threatened mainly by the clearing and fragmentation of its forest habitat. Fun fact: Antbirds are a large family of New World tropical birds, and males and females often differ strikingly in plumage.
