Bicolored Antvireo

Dysithamnus occidentalis

Near Threatened

The Bicolored Antvireo is an antvireo of humid forests in Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. A small, compact antbird, it searches foliage and branches methodically for insects in the forest mid-storey. Classified as Near Threatened, it is threatened mainly by the clearing and fragmentation of its forest habitat. Fun fact: Despite the name, antvireos are antbirds, not vireos, and belong to a large New World tropical family.
