The Black Crowned-Crane is a tall, elegant crane of Sahelian and West African wetlands and savannas. It feeds by walking through marshes, wet meadows, fields, or open plains for roots, seeds, insects, and small animals. Pairs give loud carrying calls, and many cranes perform graceful bowing and leaping displays.
