Black Guineafowl

Agelastes niger

Least Concern

The Black Guineafowl is a shy, dark forest bird of West-Central Africa. It lives mostly on the rainforest floor in small groups, slipping into dense vegetation when disturbed and feeding on fallen fruit, seeds, insects, and other small foods. It is still fairly widespread, but deforestation and hunting continue to affect local populations.
