Black-hooded Antthrush

Formicarius destructus

Least Concern

The Black-hooded Antthrush is an antthrush of humid forests in Ecuador, Peru, and Colombia. A terrestrial bird, it walks deliberately across the forest floor with its short tail held cocked, probing the leaf litter for insects and often attending army-ant swarms. Fun fact: Like many forest-floor birds, antthrushes are heard far more often than seen, giving far-carrying whistled songs.
