The Black-necked Crane is a tall, elegant crane of the Tibetan Plateau and Himalayan wintering valleys. It feeds by walking through marshes, wet meadows, fields, or open plains for roots, seeds, insects, and small animals. Pairs give loud carrying calls, and many cranes perform graceful bowing and leaping displays.
