The Chestnut-backed Thornbird is a thornbird of dry woodland and scrub in Peru. It forages in scrub and trees and builds a large, conspicuous stick nest. Classified as Near Threatened, it is threatened mainly by the loss and fragmentation of its habitat. Fun fact: The family is named for the horneros, which build sturdy oven-shaped nests out of mud.
