Chestnut-crowned Gnateater

Conopophaga castaneiceps

Least Concern

The Chestnut-crowned Gnateater is a small bird of Andean foothill forests in Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. The male has a chestnut crown and grey underparts, and it forages in dense understorey on steep forested slopes. Fun fact: It replaces its lowland relatives on the humid eastern flank of the Andes.
