Chestnut-throated Spinetail

Synallaxis cherriei

Least Concern

The Chestnut-throated Spinetail is a spinetail of scrub and undergrowth in Peru, Brazil, and Ecuador. A small, often rufous-toned bird, it skulks through dense undergrowth and tangles gleaning insects, its tail frequently held cocked. Fun fact: Many members of this family build extraordinary nests, from mud ovens to huge stick castles and tunnels dug in earth banks.
