Citron-crested Cockatoo

Cacatua citrinocristata

Critically Endangered

The Citron-crested Cockatoo is a cockatoo of Sumba and nearby Lesser Sunda islands. It uses a strong bill to crack seeds, nuts, fruit, and wood, nests in tree hollows, and often lives in noisy, social flocks or pairs. It faces an extremely high extinction risk, so every remaining population and breeding site is important.
