Common Sunbird-Asity

Neodrepanis coruscans

Least Concern

The Common Sunbird-Asity is a tiny nectar-feeding bird of the eastern humid forests of Madagascar. With a long curved bill and, in breeding males, a brilliant blue wattle around the eye, it behaves much like a sunbird, probing flowers for nectar. Fun fact: It is a sunbird only in lifestyle - it belongs to the asity family and evolved its nectar-feeding bill independently.
