The Common Waxbill is a small seed-eating waxbill of sub-Saharan Africa. It moves through grasses, reeds, scrub, farmland, or open woodland in pairs and flocks, taking grass seeds and small insects. Many estrildids build domed grass nests and give soft contact calls.
