Cordillera Azul Antbird
Myrmoderus eowilsoni
Near ThreatenedThe Cordillera Azul Antbird is an antbird of humid forests in Peru. It forages in dense forest undergrowth, taking insects and other small invertebrates, and usually stays close to cover. Classified as Near Threatened, it is threatened mainly by the clearing and fragmentation of its forest habitat. Fun fact: Despite their name, most antbirds do not eat ants; they are named for following army-ant swarms to catch the insects the ants flush out.
