Dwarf Cassowary

Casuarius bennetti

Least Concern

The Dwarf Cassowary is the smallest living cassowary, found mainly in the mountain forests of New Guinea and nearby islands. It has stiff black plumage, a low triangular casque, and colorful bare skin on the face and neck. Fun fact: It is also known as the mountain cassowary because it often lives at higher elevations than other cassowaries.
