The Elegant Crescentchest is a handsome bird of the Tumbesian dry scrub and deciduous woodland of southwestern Ecuador and northwestern Peru. Strongly marked with rufous, black, and white, it stays close to the ground in dense cover. Fun fact: It is a prize sighting in the Tumbes region, a hotspot famous for birds found nowhere else.
