Eskimo Curlew

Numenius borealis

Critically Endangered

The Eskimo Curlew is a shorebird of former North American Arctic breeding grounds and South American migration routes. It uses its bill, legs, and alert flight to feed on invertebrates, seeds, or small aquatic prey along coasts, mudflats, rivers, lakes, grasslands, or open ground; many shorebirds make impressive seasonal movements between breeding and non-breeding areas.
