Great Thick-knee

Esacus recurvirostris

Near Threatened

The Great Thick-knee is a shorebird of South and Southeast Asian rivers, coasts, and open shorelines. It uses its bill, legs, and alert flight to feed on invertebrates, seeds, or small aquatic prey along coasts, mudflats, rivers, lakes, grasslands, or open ground; many shorebirds make impressive seasonal movements between breeding and non-breeding areas.
