Helmeted Guineafowl
Numida meleagris
Least ConcernThe Helmeted Guineafowl is the familiar spotted guineafowl of African savannas, open woodland, scrub, and farmland. It runs in noisy flocks, feeds on seeds, insects, bulbs, and other ground foods, and is also widely domesticated and introduced beyond its native range. It remains common overall, though local populations still depend on suitable open habitat and safe roosting cover.
