The Helmeted Hornbill is a large-billed hornbill of Sundaland forests and lowlands. It feeds on fruit, insects, and small animals in forest or savanna, often dispersing seeds over long distances. Many hornbills seal the nesting female inside a tree cavity while the male delivers food.
