The Himalayan Flameback is a woodpecker or piculet of South, East, and Southeast Asian forests, bamboo, and woodland. It uses a strong chisel-like bill to probe bark, wood, and branches for insects and larvae, and many species also drum, call, or excavate nest cavities in trunks and limbs.
