Hooded Gnateater

Conopophaga roberti

Least Concern

The Hooded Gnateater is a bird of forests in northeastern Brazil, where the male wears a distinctive black hood. It forages low in the understorey, perching on slender stems to watch for insects. Fun fact: It lives in the Belem region, one of the most heavily deforested corners of the Amazon, making its remaining forest important.
