Lesser Ground-Cuckoo

Morococcyx erythropygus

Least Concern

The Lesser Ground-Cuckoo is a cuckoo of tropical and temperate woodland, scrub, and forest-edge habitats. It moves through trees, scrub, reedbeds, or open country searching for caterpillars, insects, fruit, and small animals, often using a long tail and quiet, deliberate movements to slip through cover. Many cuckoos lay eggs in other birds' nests, while coucals, anis, and couas usually raise their own young.
