Marañón Crescentchest

Melanopareia maranonica

Least Concern

The Maranon Crescentchest is restricted to the arid Maranon valley of northern Peru and southern Ecuador. Like its relatives it wears a dark chest crescent and skulks in dry scrub, where its distinctive song betrays its presence. Fun fact: It is one of many bird species found only in the isolated dry valleys of the upper Maranon River.
