The New Ireland Munia is a small seed-eating munia of the Bismarck Archipelago. It moves through grasses, reeds, scrub, farmland, or open woodland in pairs and flocks, taking grass seeds and small insects. Many estrildids build domed grass nests and give soft contact calls.
