Northern Barred-Woodcreeper

Dendrocolaptes sanctithomae

Least Concern

The Northern Barred-Woodcreeper is a barred-woodcreeper of humid forests in Costa Rica, Panama, and Mexico. It hitches up tree trunks and along branches, propped on its stiff tail, probing bark and epiphytes for insects. Fun fact: Woodcreepers prop themselves on stiffened tail feathers to climb tree trunks, much as woodpeckers do.
