Thripophaga cherriei

Vulnerable

The Orinoco Softtail is a softtail of humid undergrowth in Colombia and Venezuela. It keeps low in dense, often damp vegetation, gleaning insects from foliage and stems. Classified as Vulnerable, it is threatened mainly by the loss and fragmentation of its habitat. Fun fact: The family is named for the horneros, which build sturdy oven-shaped nests out of mud.
