Palm Cockatoo

Probosciger aterrimus

Near Threatened

The Palm Cockatoo is a cockatoo of New Guinea and nearby islands. It uses a strong bill to crack seeds, nuts, fruit, and wood, nests in tree hollows, and often lives in noisy, social flocks or pairs. It is not yet globally threatened, but declines, restricted range, or habitat pressure mean it needs watching.
