Papuan Logrunner

Orthonyx novaeguineae

Least Concern

The Papuan Logrunner is a forest-floor bird that flips leaf litter sideways with strong legs while searching for insects in New Guinea highlands. It is usually resident, using dense cover or forest structure year-round and moving locally as food availability changes. Fun fact: many of these Australo-Papuan passerines are easier to detect by voice than by sight.
