The Perija Thistletail is a thistletail of high-Andean grassland and scrub in Colombia and Venezuela. It skulks low through high-Andean grass and scrub, gleaning insects, its long tail trailing behind. Classified as Endangered, it is threatened mainly by the loss and fragmentation of its habitat. Fun fact: Many members of this family build extraordinary nests, from mud ovens to huge stick castles and tunnels dug in earth banks.
