Red-throated Barbet

Psilopogon mystacophanos

Near Threatened

The Red-throated Barbet is a stout-billed canopy bird of Sundaland hill and lowland forest. It feeds heavily on figs and other fruit, also taking insects, and its ringing calls often reveal it before it is seen among leaves. Pairs nest in tree cavities that they excavate or reuse.
