Rio Branco Antbird

Cercomacra carbonaria

Vulnerable

The Rio Branco Antbird is an antbird of humid forests in Guyana and Brazil. It forages in dense forest undergrowth, taking insects and other small invertebrates, and usually stays close to cover. Classified as Vulnerable, it is threatened mainly by the clearing and fragmentation of its forest habitat. Fun fact: Antbirds are a large family of New World tropical birds, and males and females often differ strikingly in plumage.
