Rufous-crowned Antpitta

Pittasoma rufopileatum

Near Threatened

The Rufous-crowned Antpitta is a striking ground bird of the wet Choco forests of western Colombia and northwestern Ecuador. It has a rufous crown, scaled underparts, and long legs for bounding across the leaf litter. Fun fact: Its rainforest home is one of the wettest places on Earth, and it is declining as that forest is cleared.
