Rufous-sided Broadbill

Smithornis rufolateralis

Least Concern

The Rufous-sided Broadbill is a tiny broadbill of West and Central African lowland rainforest, named for the rufous patches along its flanks. It sits motionless on understorey perches and is most often detected by the insect-like trill made by its wings in display flight. Fun fact: It is one of the smallest broadbills, weighing only about 11 grams.
