The Sarus Crane is a tall, elegant crane of South Asian, Southeast Asian, and northern Australian wetlands. It feeds by walking through marshes, wet meadows, fields, or open plains for roots, seeds, insects, and small animals. Pairs give loud carrying calls, and many cranes perform graceful bowing and leaping displays.
