Scaled Antpitta
Grallaria guatimalensis
Least ConcernThe Scaled Antpitta is an antpitta of humid forests in Colombia, Ecuador, and Costa Rica. A plump, almost tailless bird with long legs, it hops across the shaded forest floor and low understorey, pausing upright to search the leaf litter for insects, worms, and other small prey. Fun fact: Several antpittas have been coaxed into the open at forest feeding stations, where they come for earthworms.
