Short-crested Coquette

Lophornis brachylophus

Critically Endangered

The Short-crested Coquette is a nectar-feeding hummingbird of tropical and subtropical Americas. It also takes tiny insects and spiders for protein, using fast hovering flight, rapid wingbeats, and a long bill to work flowers and defend feeding areas. It is at very high risk, so remaining habitat and known sites are especially important.
