Small Buttonquail

Turnix sylvaticus

Least Concern

The Small Buttonquail is a shorebird of South, Southeast Asian, and Australasian grasslands and open scrub. It uses its bill, legs, and alert flight to feed on invertebrates, seeds, or small aquatic prey along coasts, mudflats, rivers, lakes, grasslands, or open ground; many shorebirds make impressive seasonal movements between breeding and non-breeding areas.
