Snethlage's Antpitta

Hylopezus paraensis

Least Concern

The Snethlage's Antpitta is an antpitta of humid forests in Brazil. A plump, almost tailless bird with long legs, it hops across the shaded forest floor and low understorey, pausing upright to search the leaf litter for insects, worms, and other small prey. Fun fact: Antpittas are famous for their ventriloquial voices, which makes these round, long-legged birds far easier to hear than to see.
