The Snow Mountain Munia is a small seed-eating munia of New Guinea and nearby islands. It moves through grasses, reeds, scrub, farmland, or open woodland in pairs and flocks, taking grass seeds and small insects. Many estrildids build domed grass nests and give soft contact calls.
