Sociable Lapwing

Vanellus gregarius

Critically Endangered

The Sociable Lapwing is a shorebird of central Asian breeding steppes and seasonal routes to Africa and South Asia. It uses its bill, legs, and alert flight to feed on invertebrates, seeds, or small aquatic prey along coasts, mudflats, rivers, lakes, grasslands, or open ground; many shorebirds make impressive seasonal movements between breeding and non-breeding areas.
