The Southern Cordonbleu is a small seed-eating finch of sub-Saharan Africa. It moves through grasses, reeds, scrub, farmland, or open woodland in pairs and flocks, taking grass seeds and small insects. Many estrildids build domed grass nests and give soft contact calls.
