Spix's Woodcreeper

Xiphorhynchus spixii

Least Concern

The Spix's Woodcreeper is a woodcreeper of humid forests in Brazil. It hitches up tree trunks and along branches, propped on its stiff tail, probing bark and epiphytes for insects. Fun fact: Woodcreepers prop themselves on stiffened tail feathers to climb tree trunks, much as woodpeckers do.
