Straight-billed Reedhaunter

Limnoctites rectirostris

Near Threatened

The Straight-billed Reedhaunter is a reedhaunter of marshes and reedbeds in Uruguay, Brazil, and Argentina. It clambers through reeds and marsh vegetation, gleaning insects low over the water. Classified as Near Threatened, it is threatened mainly by the loss and fragmentation of its habitat. Fun fact: The family is named for the horneros, which build sturdy oven-shaped nests out of mud.
