Wattled Ploughbill

Eulacestoma nigropectus

Least Concern

The Wattled Ploughbill is a New Guinea montane bird with a distinctive wattled face and chisel-like bill for probing bark and moss in New Guinea highlands. It is usually resident, using dense cover or forest structure year-round and moving locally as food availability changes. Fun fact: many of these Australo-Papuan passerines are easier to detect by voice than by sight.
