Western Bristlebird

Dasyornis longirostris

Endangered

The Western Bristlebird is a secretive ground-dwelling songbird of dense coastal heath and scrub in southwestern Australia. It is usually resident, using dense cover or forest structure year-round and moving locally as food availability changes. Fun fact: many of these Australo-Papuan passerines are easier to detect by voice than by sight.
