Andean Tinamou

Nothoprocta pentlandii

Least Concern

The Andean Tinamou is a highland tinamou of open slopes, puna grassland, and scrub from Ecuador and Peru south through Bolivia and Argentina. Its grey-brown, streaked plumage fits rocky grasslands where it walks quietly among tussocks. Fun fact: Tinamous are close relatives of ratites, but unlike ostriches and rheas they can still fly short distances.
