Australian Brushturkey
Alectura lathami
Least ConcernThe Australian Brushturkey is a large mound-building megapode of eastern Australia, from Cape York south through Queensland and New South Wales. It uses rainforest, wet sclerophyll forest, scrub, and increasingly urban gardens. Fun fact: Males build and tend huge compost mounds, adjusting the temperature by adding or removing leaf litter.
