Bearded Guan

Penelope barbata

Near Threatened

The Bearded Guan is an arboreal cracid of humid montane forests of southern Ecuador and northern Peru. It usually keeps to forest canopy and edges, feeding heavily on fruit and helping move seeds through tropical and subtropical forests. Although still present across parts of its range, habitat loss and hunting pressure mean its populations need close watching.
