Black Curassow

Crax alector

Least Concern

The Black Curassow is a large, mostly forest-dwelling cracid of lowland forests of the Guianas, southern Venezuela, and northern Brazil. It spends much of its time walking quietly on the forest floor, where it feeds on fallen fruit, seeds, and small invertebrates. It remains comparatively widespread, but healthy forest and woodland still matter for keeping local populations secure.
